oil on board, 8x8"
commissioned portrait

I've been working on a few different versions for this portrait and like how this one has come out. Hopefully I've captured his wistfulness in that moment on that day and the beauty of his sun bleached hair...

I did a painting yesterday and had it posted for a while and decided I needed to rework it or move on so it's no longer up. I try to post the good , the bad and the ugly but somehow I couldn't bear to look at my drawing errors. It's all a process of learning for me since it's only been a year and 1/2 since I began painting. There is so much more to come as I work on my skills, everyday.

  1. You did indeed capture the sunlight in this boy's hair. It has turned out beautifully. I also have a hard time seeing my mistakes. The bad part for me is that while I see them, I can't always seem to fix them. A complete disconnect from eyes to hands. I cannot believe you've only been painting for a year and a half. You are phenomenal!
